I really dont follow what your question is? Hugh Piggott, is one style of design. Pete. Sometimes it just works |

I think the question is "who" has designed the axial flux windmill. The answer to that would be, that there have been a few pioneers working in the design, Hugh Piggot and the guys at otherpower.com to mention the few most involved. If at first you don't succeed, try again. My projects |

Hi Janne, I would think that Hugh Piggot has created a design of an axial flux alternator, probably more than one as well. There are certainly a lot of recent experimental windmills along a similar design as well. I have electrical textbooks dated 1945, and I have not found any references to Axial flux up to this time, for motors, or generators, or alternators. The design was certainly around in the 1970's, as DAVIS-CRAIG used a pancake type Axial flux design in after market car thermostatic fans. I had played around with these motors, as generators at this time, before I went to University. I built my own design, Neo-magnet design, in the early 1990's, following ideas I had during my early working career. I had to have magnets made to order, as Neo was not readily available. This was cutting edge at the time. I had not heard of Hugh Piggot. The recent advances in magnet technology has made the concept more useful and viable. Someone will probably find a patent reference. I found a patent reference to an iron cored machine dated 1984, and another machine dated 2004. I suspect that there were many pioneers in this technology. Gordon. become more energy aware |

This should Qualify for axial flux with a steel core. MODEL T FORD MAGNETO Time has proven that I am blind to the Obvious, some of the above may be True? |
