Hi everyone, I live on the south coast of england and have checked up on prevailing winds and mean wind speeds for this location. I have noticed that there are wind scales and not speeds ie 1 - 7 as I think my site for the Mill is in a low to medium scale which after observing seems to gust, what type of Mill could anyone suggest (I am restricted for hieght max 12ft). I would like to charge a bank of 1 or 2 12v batteries for outside lighting as my first project. Cheers Let the wind blow FREE |

I would go for a vertical, like a Lenz or Savious. They work well in low winds, and are slow running and quiet. My Lenz is only about 10 feet high and makes 10 to 20 odd watts in light winds, nice windmill to get started on. Glenn The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago, the second best time is right now. JAQ |
