I must have watched over 1000 YouTube vids so far in getting up to speed on wind turbines. Here is one posted today that was rather cool. Shows you what starting blades vs. flying blades can be like!

I know it's not to be found on the "purist's" to-do list, but maybe a go-cart clutch attached ahead of the load would help out the meager starting power. A clutch might be easier to add than carving another set of blades.

Thanks for the video post; I liked it and even left a thumbs-up on the guy's Youtube site.

it kind off looks like a 4m ish prop with a wide chord... i,d gladly trade the girlfriend to watch that guy trip start a 5m one ...the clutch.... erm ...just mighnt be as much fun Mac .. Edited by niall1 2010-09-01

I love the governer, just tilt forks back now all I need is a front end loader for my tractor I told wife I had to have one!!

theres something very confusing about this mill...can someone explain ? .. it looks like in his other videos hes using a regular 3 phase eletric motor excited by caps to produce hv ac...

a squirrel cage 3-phase 1.5\1.75kW ASEA motor with 30\60µF 450V caps (1-2C config)...

he seems to have a workable hv mill with a standard electric ac induction motor ...
