Well, I finally was blessed with some early westerly winds here at Mt.tamborine yesterday. I lowered the mill early in the day because it was not turning .I have the neo conversion Rotor on it and think it 's magnets are so strong that backing off 1/3 or 1/4 would see it perform . raising the mill and releasing the electrical brake saw the mill immediately spin up to 20 plus amps @27 v. I was in a panic for a while as I didn't have the dummy load ready,well I hooked up 500 watts of dummy load and sat back SMOKE, sh*t ,the plastic tightening nut on top of the dummy load was dribbling black plastic goo down the coils- I managed to pull most of it off with long nose pliers. Just goes to show you ,and me , you have to be forever watching out for these things. Anyhow , the winding is the 60 type configured in a parallel/star fashion. So, there u have it , he who waits for the wind will get his rewards. It was averaging around 100-400 watts most of the day . Bruce Bushboy |

Well done Bruce. Good to see another F&P windmill making power. I think we are starting to gets the bugs out of these things, and you've just proven there is nothing wrong with using a belt drive to step up the windmill speed.
