I picked up at a goverment surplus sale a small Aero watt wind generator, there was no blade or tail vane with it. I searched the net and emailed the company that took over aero watt and have not been able to get any info on this unit, can't even find a pic. of one so I am hoping by chance someone here might be able to give me a direction to find something about it. On the body is stamped 36v so I assume it is a 36 volt charging unit, all my setups are for 12 volt systems so what can I expect if I try to charge my 12 volt batteries with it? Thanks for any help

Yes Prof, it has this ,Type 115/60/9
No.24FPJ
That is the spec. tag
The shaft is 3/4" and I have a motor arbor on it and am also trying to make a tail for it. The shaft has a keyway in it and the center of the shaft is threaded, left hand thread so I would think it was designed for counter clockwise rotation.

Dwyer, no this did not come from an aircraft. it came from a goverment place called "Bedford institude of oceanography" they do research in the oceans of Canada, probalbly used them to charge batteries at remote sites.
Thanks

Hi Ken,
Aerowatt made a model 24 FP7 which had a 1 metre 2 blade fan which was rated at 0.015 Kw. They made very tough machines. I think the numbers stamped on the body are just the serial number. I suspect that the type number says it outputs 115 Vac at 60 Hz (Just a guess). Note that Trametal is a European steel company.
Try looking at (http://ntrs.nasa.gov/archive/nasa/casi.ntrs.nasa.gov/197900 75972_1979075972.pdf) and (http://www.smallwindindustry.org/fileadmin/ewea_documents/d ocuments/projects/swiis/track_records/050511CETMEF.pdf).
You may be able to track down more info via these links.

Prof., thanks for those sites they had more info then i was able to find on my own.I did not see any with the model # that I have 24FPJ so I'm still not sure of exactly what I have. Here are some more pics. of the middle section with the slip rings and I would assume a retifier, there are 4 wires that come from the altenator and connect to the rectifier and 2 come off and go the the brushes of the slip rings where another 2 wires from the rings come out of the bottom of the mount.
Thanks for the help.

Hi,
I've got one Aerowatt, 24-FP7-C. The links mentioned above, are no longer working! So, would it be possible the send me the 2 PDF by email ?
The output voltage, is around 6V DC with ripple, looks it good ??
I would like to do a voltage regulator , to load a 12V battery. iF you have a electronic schematic, you are also welcome!
Thanks
Vince

Vince, I did not find out anymore about the aerowatt so it has been sitting in the corner of the shop,my brother has moved close to my area and he his an armature worker and has been repairing and rewinding motors fo 40 years so I am going to hand it over to him to figure out what it is wired for.

Hi Ken,
Ok , for this. I know that this model is no longer maded since 1985 but some of them was still in use for headlight of open sea a few years ago, in south of France. if the people are not retired... I try to get tech. spech. from them.
