Hi everyone.
I have a Dunlite wind generator (pre 1970 we think), we are still trying to determine which model, I'm pretty sure its the 1.5Kw 32v model generator rather than the later model alternator. Anyway does anyone have any idea what charge controller I can use to run this. I intend haveing a few solar panels running on the system and a petrol back up if all else fails. See

If yours has the same 3 blades and one clamp holding it on the mount it is 1500W. The 2000W model has 2 clamps and is brushless.

A 24 Volt PWM regulator (assuming you will run on a 24v system) on the field connection on the field wire should work fine. The one I used to have had the original vibrating contacts, it also needs a big diode on the output.

Yes 24v.
Mine is definitely the 3 blade variant, it looks exactly like the one in the pictures only grubby. Do you have any idea what amp rated regulator I might need. I understand 1500 watts is only a nominal output on these and they can put out a lot more at max. Does that mean I need greater than 1500w / 24v = 62.5amp controller? like does 150amp sound reasonable? and last question why PWM over MPPT?

The regulation I am talking about is on the field, MPPT won't work that way. To use MPPT you would have to connect the field directly to the output.

When you install don't overlook connecting the brake, I remember once trying to get mine to stop in a approaching storm. Took a little but was quite scary seeing it doing huge rpm and the wet brake was not having any effect.
