Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

I've been reading in the content how Gordon was using capacitors in series on the F&P 3 phase to change the cut in rpm. Anybody out there that knows this design , I'd like to know if anyone using these circuits have tried using an Inspeed wind switch , in combination with some relays, to automatically switching circuits at different wind speeds . I'd like to hear any thoughts . I'm not sure how it would affect the turbine ,

Thanks , Kennyg

Hi Kenny

Just replied to you on my other post with some details that may help you. I take it you are referring to the link on the Stagered Stator page?

Here is the link below.
Gordon Cap Mod

As for an "Inspeed wind switch" could be done with a dual stator setup wired Delta using high speed high power MOSFET's on a 48 VDC battery system.

With 2x 36 pole copper stators run at different cuts, first set up for 2x 6c for 75 RPM cut in (with Cap Doubler) then switched at 150 RPM to 4x 3c same stator. The second stator 3x 4c would cut in at 110 RPM then switch at 220 RPM to 6x 2c for second switch. There would need to be hysteresis so switch back at a slightly different RPM.

Potential output power of this setup at 500 to 600 RPM range would be 1200 to 1400 W set up correctly.

Cheers

Be that there has been a bit of lively discussion about Gordon's Cap Mod circuit in the last 2 weeks a can anyone tell me what happened to him? Seems to have made no more posts since early 2011...

Hi Glenn

Had my suspicions that could have been the case. Just had to ask, as lots of discussion with his name being mentioned recently so curiosity killed the cat

Your Forum guide lines make it very clear for all users follow an respect them.

Regards

David
