Well hallo all . After quite some time I finally got my first turbine up this morning . I used a samsung smart drive . Blades are homemade PVC . 200mm diameter pipe , 10mm wall . They came out really well .they are 1.25mtrs each so I have a 2.5mtr set of blades . I left the stator factory wound . Because i intend to go grid tied and still havnt got an inverter I decided to put it up on short pole for test purposes , it only 15 foot in the back garden . For a load I used some light bulbs on batten holders , 3 of them in parallel ,2 200w bulbs , 1 100w . As usual no wind at first . Then later the wind came , not much , about 5 or 6 m/s . Anyhow I got over 100v and 2 amps . According to ohms law calculator thats about 200w .I have to say I am well pleased with that . I have got a 10m tilt down self supporting pole that will go up at the end of the garden .So when I get the turbine on top of that and some decent wind I should produce some usable power . Thanks to every one on the forum for their help so far .
