Hiya

Do they sell many Fisher & Paykel white goods in Ireland? The F&P washing machines use the smart drive motor.

You should find a few on ebay, but may need to buy from overseas.

Hi I'm from Northern Ireland and had the same problem a few years ago eventually managed to get one in USA but can't find address now. Seen this site might be of help if a bit on the expensive side Randy's s.
They certainly make great turbines even if a bit hard to source.

Use the 4th box from the left in the header bar (add hyperlink) and follow instructions

Hi gww if you use link tab on Post reply page you need to put in a word or phrase in first box (on screen display for hyperlink), then the actual link in 2nd box (url for page you want to display). As you look at it on the post reply page its a bit messy (your phrase and link both shown) but once posted its fine. Sorry I didn't see your reply wasn't trying to be clever had it open earlier then had to leave it.

Thank you

Hallo again to the Forum .I have located a smart drive motor on eBay . It should be here early next . So just a few questions to the more experienced members out there as this is my first attempt at a DIY turbine .I am thinking of going the grid tied route as this is a low budget venture and i dont want to spend a load on batteries and a lot of other gear . What size should i go for on the blades , im going the PVC route . Also the stator rewind , which option would be best for grid tie . I"v seen a Mastervolt Windmaster 500 on eBay , around the 200 BPS , doesnt seem too expencive . Anyone any xeperience with them ? Any ideas would be much appreciated . Thanks to those for the help so far .

Why didnt anyone advise to look for LG or Samsung direct drive motors or craped out washing machines, it is what a lot of people use over there instead, as they are a bit more common. Might save a very high cost for a F&P Motor. But if you specifically want F&P then sounds like you have got it.

Yea they are pretty much the same but a hole lot more sturdy and have .8 windings from memory. They have a bigger stator/rotor so should get a bit more out .. Keep us posted , keep your eyes out for a SMA 1100 LV Wind boy, the LV is what you want as it will grid feed from 22 or so Volts. Not sure if you are allowed to use the Chinese power jack types over there but if you can they would be a cheaper alternative, you might just blow up a few on the way.

You might just need to experiment a bit with the rewire as there has not been to much info put forward about these.Edited by fillm 2015-02-17

Thanks again Phill . I saw one of the SMA Windy Boy inverters on Amazon , very expensive , 1800 Pounds Sterling . Do you know anything about the Mastervolt Windmaster 500 . They have an operating Voltage of between 35v and 150v DC . I'v seen them on eBay for around 230 Sterling . A bit nearer to my budget !

Hi guys . Well the smart drive motor arrived today . I think you are right Phill . The stator has 36 poles looks like .8mm wire . Its looks in good nick and its decogged . The rotar has 12 sets of 4 magnet blocks . So thats 48 . Now the fun starts . I think I,ll build the lot first and test with the stator as is , foctory mode . That should give me an idea of the voltage output on my site . Then I can rewire to suite whatever inverter I,m going to use . Wish me luck !

Hi Im new here, bear with me please.
Firstly thanks for a very informative website with fantastic information!

My question is has anyone had any success converting a cheap Chinese wind charger to a F&P generator?

I am planning to remove the existing wafer thin little excuse of an alternator and bolt the F&P stator plate in its place.
The plate will need a boss welded on it for the bearings, shaft etc.

Any comments are welcome and apologies if this is the wrong forum but I will need to buy a smart drive to modify.
Thank you.
