Whats the flow?

50m of head is a great start, but flow is just as important. If the 50mm poly can flow constantly at 50m head, then it would be like a fire hose!

You need to work out what flow you can achieve at a constant rate, without the top inlet sucking air.

Rainbow Power Company have a couple of good pages on measuring flow for hydro electric.

Hi glenn I have dragged an old bath up the mountain to elavation of 50mtrs above the turbine which will be feed via another 50mmpipe further up the stream which I hope will not allow air to be sucked into the system

If you wanted to you could get 100mtrs of head? Why not move your intake system further upstream?

Powerspout With 100 mtrs head and 300 mtrs of 50mm pipe passing 3L/s you are looking at about 1.3KW/H. Serious power! Are you trying to run a normal household off this?

How far from the generator to your battery bank? 12Volts at 1.3KW/H may not be appropriate.

Hi glenn thanks so much for your time the intake has to stay where it is so its 200mtrs up the hill with 50mtrs of elavationant our house which we are running a 12volt system is about 20mtrs from where I want to place the turbine I can move it closer but I am worried about noise from the turbine.
