senior moment (again) the ribbed panels would have horizontal or vertical orentation? seems to me that vertical ribs would break up passing air? from what i've been reading so far,performance is not all that easy to obtain with the Miller? went out to whats left of my scrap iron pile ...I'm short of material (panels) anyway am picking lots of interesting info in the meantime; you'll probably solve the Miller thing before I scrape up the $ and drive to town! ol_jon |

aha! thats my old miller video. Cant believe its still on youtube. I always wanted to pursue some more miller building but got sidetracked again. Really keen to hear if anyone here has had some success, especially with a large miller. |

Hi Mac, I made a rough prototype for myself about a year and a half ago. It worked real well but was out of balance a bit. It was only 1.5 x 1 ish meters blade size. I was so happy with it I spyed a old water tower at the wreckers and bought it for the base. I have welded a mount on top for it and I have the tower in place. I need to fasten it to the rock some how yet. I have almost finished the generator part using 80mm tubing and a specialy modified F&P shaft. It will have 4 stators on it with 4 f&P bearings along it To cope with the gforces. (one hopes) 
All was going slow and steady until my normal mill was destroyed for the third time so it got put back on the back burner. To top it all off two months ago I was cutting a tree for some extra cash for a friend and I fell 5 meters onto concrete. I have broken both my heals. One in twenty pieces and the other has three fractures. It will be four months until I can even try to put weight on them again after having surgery. It hurts so much I can not explain. It will be a year until I am close to normal again but I have been told I can never do hard labour again. It will be too painful. We will see...... 
Needless to say my mega Miller rotor from Hell has come to a stop for a fair while. Down for the count but not out! Regards Greenthumbs. |

Yea not long after we bought this farm a mate suggested the tree behind my shed could be a problem and offered to cut it down for me. He got 75% of the way when suddenly a branch ripped him out of the tree. It was lucky my Stihl chainsaw has a safety as he fell close to 3 metres still holding the chainsaw and broke 3 ribs. I did offer to go insurance using my public liability but he said it will be right mate. He had to cancel several big jobs over the next month as he was in so much pain. So I decided in future if any trees need cutting I would do it myself and guess what I got the same treatment and got knocked out cold. I was off work for close to a month too but lucikly I had enough sickies and holidays to cover me. These days if a tree needs cutting down I start at the base so all the other cutting is on ground level. Cheers Bryan |
