Hi guys, Been a long term reader of the forums, thought it was time I had some input! I've been interested in the F&P turbines for a long time and am experimenting with a few designs at the moment. Have read before that an early Corolla driveshaft yoke will fit onto the F&P spline. Was at a transfer station the other day and found a drive shaft with 'KE30' written on it, so gave it a try, low and behold a perfect fit to the F&P shaft spline. It might be good if anyone out there can confirm whether this is true of manual and auto transmissions, and to actually confirm what was written on the shaft I found is correct. My main question though is this - does anyone know of any other sources of splined sleeve that is a perfect fit for the F&P shaft? Additionally does anyone know if they used the same KE30 (alleged ) spline on any other Toyotas? |

Hi Scoop , Welcome to the forum, although its may-be a bit late now as it now seems all the regulars are more preoccupied with climate change at present rather than to welcome a new member. WRT the F&P spline match , it has been talked about a couple of times over the years but what may seem a easy way to fit a blade hub can have its problems with welding and alignment ect. The thing is do you really need a spline that can transmit 100kw+ of powwer to drive a F&P that is lucky to make 400w or .4Kw , that's up to the person I suppose . Also I don't think anyone has actually come out and said what model corollas are suitable which makes it a bit hard when you ask for a early corolla drive spline at the wreckers. Thanks for the reply Phil - With the spline I think 100kW is ambitious for a KE30 Corolla . Its not so much about transmitting a lot of power that I was intending, it would just be so much easier to use a spline to connect whatever you wanted was my thinking, without having to custom fabricate. I figure there's gotta be a heap of things out there with the same spline, surely there is an International or Australian Standard for splines that is followed, and F&P haven't just chosen a random design? |

Thanks for welcoming Scoop, Phill. Yes, welcome Scoop. The spline -- Glenn once water-cut or lazer-cut suitable steel pieces to fit this spline .. So did Trev . I've a couple ,and the fit is very near. I spent hours of Saturday mornings in Sydney Wreckers trying to find the correct one , could never find one that was perfect. So, I guess F&P did actually fabricate their own ?. A member did have some success, you'll have to search "splines'. As Phill has mentioned, the welding and alignment will beat you ,unless you have professional lathe, welding and skill to do this correctly. I got it fairly close , but when she's up 50 feet in a storm ,all hell can break loose, ask me?. I'm around the gold coast hinterland , so if you are in the area, you are welcome to look at my mistakes(lol), have some interesting stuff. Have fun ,don't give up . Bruce Bushboy |
