hello windworld am newbie to wind farming and like all newbies i am stuffing around with cheap dc motors. I have just aquired 6 90volt 1.1amp 1750rpm. can i run them off 1 mill? and if so what sort of output would i get? |

Hi Naturboy Guessing your using a 12v battery. So 90v / 1750 rpm * 12v = 233rpm. Not bad for a little wind turbine, maybe 20 or so watts if its rated at 1.1 amps. But this is only a guess, you would need to spin up the motor in a lathe or similar, with a battery as a test load, and measure the current it can produce at up to 500 rpm to so. Connecting several onto one turbine could be a challenge. Do the shafts extend out both ends of the motors? Thanks for the info glen. I am getting a volt meter soon, i shall do the tests and let you know.The shafts don,t extend out both ends but have rubber wheels. I was thinking of a hinged spring loaded mount.The springs pulling motors onto another rubber wheel attached to the hub.or actuators to have 1 motor in low wind and 6 in high. chris |
