[Quote=MrDelanco] . . . but had some whistling from the holes along the edge. How does the Coroflute you used hold up to strong winds and does the material breakdown when exposed to prolong sun-lite ? These little blades are almost bullet proof. Water, wind, sunshine, birds . . . nothing seems to faze them. If you are having trouble with your blades whistling, do as I've done and leave the center core open from the root to the tip. This "pumps" air outboard and spoils that tip vortex, which is the cause of the whistling. Somewhere either in that post or another I've tossed up a Youtube movie showing the blade free-wheeling in a stiff breeze and I got up scarey close to film it and show there is no noise from the blades other than to block background noise from the waves at the beach below the cliff where I shot the movie. I'll try to find a link and come back here to edit it into this post if nobody hops on ahead of me before I can make it back. When that happens, the "edit" feature sprouts wings. Aha! Made it in time. Here's that LINK. . . . . . Mac Nothing difficult is ever easy! Perhaps better stated in the words of Morgan Freeman, "Where there is no struggle, there is no progress!" Here is an interesting video showing a tunnel blade design. I wonder if it was larger if it would create a vortex ? Tunnel blade design This wind turbine is quiet, bird friendly and can generate electricity in low wind speeds. That is because it funnels the wind into the center of the turbine. MrDelanco:Project Videos It is not only too know what it does but to understand how it does what it does. |

Here is an interesting video showing a Windgiant 6.2-6.3 m.MTS design. Windgiant windturbine without noise at windspeed 6.2 to 6.3 m/sec, diameter 4,5 m, start up at 0,6-0,7 m/sec power 20 kW at 9 m/sec, powercoefficient 2000 watt/m2, hub height 8 m MrDelanco:Project Videos It is not only too know what it does but to understand how it does what it does. |
