Hi everyone. Well its that time of year again. First up, I would like to thank all of you for contributing so much to the forums. There has been a wealth of knowledge shared here over the last year, and I must say we have some very clever, creative and helpful members who have added their own expertise to the discussions. We have come a long way with the F&P, we now know how to get rid of the cogging ( a problem that's been around for many years and held it back as a wind generator ), so now its just a matter of fine tuning for best power and efficiency. Secondly, I have a few days off over Christmas and I'll spend some time working on the web site adding windmill related info. I've already finished a few web pages on electrical basics to AC theory, and will add a bunch more in the next few days, including blade design, furling, towers, etc, and some general info like metric conversions, common steel sizes, whatever I can think of. It will all go on line in about a week. I also have a few projects on the go around the place. I picked up an old Toyota 4WD for $200 to be converted into a field car ( once I get the thing to run ), and also need to build a few gates and plant some trees. Our wet season is starting up here in Northern Australia so its the perfect time to get a few fruit trees established and fix the lawn mower ( Maybe Trev could suggest a EV conversion for the old Greenfield ride on ). Lastly, enjoy the Christmas break and new year celebrations. Its been good reading the forums and watching the idea's grow, well done everyone. Best wishes. Glenn The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago, the second best time is right now. JAQ |

Gizmo, Congratulations on an excellant website, I have been visiting for a couple of months now and have learned a great deal from you and your members. Attached is an excel spreadsheet that I created to use for conversions, it may be of use to you and your welcome to use it. Fairly simple to use, for example if you wanted to convert Miles per Hour you would enter the number in the Blue box in the Miles per Hour column and press ENTER, the conversions can then be read in the corresponding columns. The sheet can be kept clean by entering Zero in the Blue boxes. Best Wishes, Footy 2006-12-24_055959_Conversions.zip You'll never know if you dont have a go. |

G'day Gizmo. Well, about soon I really would like to know what internal impedances are for the various F&P configurations. Eccoinnovation tell me things like 1 ohm resistance for the 100S and about 15 for the 60S. OK, I can work out what that means for the various phase connections, but gee, the internal reactance must be an important parameter to think on if designing from the ground up. Have written to F&P engineers to ask them values of saturation flux. Hope they answer. Megawatt Man |
