anhua 5kW specs here OK so assuming I put it up next to the F&P..... designed to run at 120V and I run it at half that.... cutin would be nice and early but it would only make max 1/2 the power into 60V so call it 2.5kW.....that rating appears to be at 11m/s which rarely happens, 5m/s is more common so call it 1kW..... Me thinks this is looking good for the PVE1200 and the killer dump load that already there, PVE1200 pulls out as much as it can, dump load 1 kicks in...increases the load upto ~2kW, all turns to sh!t the Geezus dump load turns on at 3000W giving potential for the full 5kW to be soaked up should things go pear shaped. add ontop of that 80m of 16mm2 cable at 42A and I'm guessing there's some regulation in that too, would have to drop 5-6A (or the turbine would just run up a few more volts at the pole) any problems with this theory? I would pull the alternator apart and reconfigure the windings, like we do with the F&P. If its designed to run at 120 volts, then splitting the windings into 2 and paralleling them up will give 60 volts at twice the amps, same watts, But you would also need to run thicker wire down the tower, etc, and the slip rings could be overloaded. Another option would be to use switchmode power supplies, to step the voltage from 120 to 60 or whatever. Glenn The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago, the second best time is right now. Hello With the kind of testing and building Bob Down Under and Gizmo have done with the F&P And What I have done with the Mann Smart Drive for wind and hydro it is a great work horse. My unit out of the box it is 1000 watt unit at 300 RPM. I would love to have one of you guys to build around it Down Under. I have orders in the USA on EBay now. To ship it Down Under I got it down to $200 it weighs 38 LB in the box. That was USA Post. all others UPS,FedX, was $400+ |

Hi Karl If you want to grid feed it you would be better to stay with high voltage and feed it into a conventional GFI at 250 volts plus to maintain efficiency. You could then use some 240 volt heaters if you require dump loads. All the best Bob Foolin Around |

Hi Bob Nice solid unit you have made there, why don't you list it in the forum for sale section to let everyone know what it is and what it can do. All the best Bob Foolin Around |

Thank you I did not know. All of you guys have been supper helpful Down Under. I am testing a duel stator one with luck today to have close to zero cogging. After I finish painting the front of my house today I will spend some time on it. Bob Mann |
