Going were no turbine has gone before Town Water Towers.

I have just got the OK from My Town to do a test study with The New

Tree Top Wind Mills with the Mann Smart Drive.

I am looking for some help from any one local to me here in Boston MA.

That wishes to give a hand. I will be mounting my units up on the top cross

support just under the tank. The tank is 36.5 meters high.

The town is very much behind me to see if we can help on the power to run

the pumps under ground.

I will be up and running in the next 3 weeks on site doing testing.

I hope to show that VAWTs can be used and many ways on structures that are all ready

in place with very low impact to the area

Welcome to the 4m. I don't see the windmill; where is it? I think it'd be a fun project, but I hail from San Diego, which is about as far from Boston as you can get; sorry.

If you want to get some idea of the power available at that mounting location, plug your figures into Alton's Calculator to get a general idea of the power available and see if it's even worth the effort before you build stuff. While Alton's Calculator is designed to calculate values for a HAWT, still it will give you some idea of what you're up against.

With a VAWT, you'll need all the help you can muster as these are typically low-power machines. From the picture you posted of the water tower, it looks like there may be as many as 5 places where wind shadows will be produced and you'll have to work that into your design to assure self starting.

Keep us posted, please.

Hello the wind will is not up will be up and running in 3 weeks.
The plan is to put it on the last cross support nere the latter.

The out put with the Mann Smart Drive with my modifed lenzs wings is as follows .
> Best case, this is what you can expect from your turbine:
> 10 mph 23 w
> 15 mph 75w
> 20 mph 190 w
> 25 mph 330w
> 30 mph 645 w
> 35 mph 1000w
> 40 mph 1500w
> 45 mph 2300w
> 50 mph 2900w
> (The alt would probably melt on those higher powers)
> So what amount of power should I design to handle?

I am hoping to make a dent in the power useage of the tower
