Hi there, We are using the logger (similar to PicLog) to track the performance of our 2kw wind genrator and noticed that when the ampere goes too high that the RPM doesn't show correctly. Here is some data. Has anyone run into the same problem, is that normal? Your early reply and input is highly appreciated. Thank you! Surf with the wind! |

Cindy, The voltage going from 13 to 43v is not how it should look going into a 12V battery bank , Is this being run in a lathe? PhillM ...Oz Wind Engineering..Wind Turbine Kits 500W - 5000W ~ F&P Dual Kits ~ GOE222Blades- Voltage Control Parts ------- Tower kits |

Phill, yes, you are right, it is being run in a test stand as we are collecting datas. The battery bank corrected is 36V. In the lower speed and lower ampere, the logger works fine. But when it goes higher, the data seems abnormal. Surf with the wind! |

"The battery bank corrected is 36V" I don't know how you are getting 8 or so amps at 13 or so volts into a 36volt battery Got any pictures/info on the logger? |

Yeah I agree those figures make no sense. If your testing the alternator in a test stand, you dont need a PicLog, all you need is a couple of multimeters, a counter, and someone who knows how to use them. As I've said to Wes in the past, you need to get someone on the team who has a basic understanding of AC and DC circuits, making measurements, and the maths involved. Trying to bring a windmill to market without a electrician on the team is not going to work. Even a first year electrical apprentice will know enough to quickly answer all the questions OEM have posted here, its basic stuff. Trying to sort this out on a internet forum could take weeks, where an electrician on site would sort it out in 5 minutes. It will also help you CORRECTLY rate the completed turbine. A alternator that makes 2kw when overloaded and cooking itself to death in a lathe can not be put on the market as a 2kw wind turbine.
