Thank you for the info and yes some very good info i will be out and about looking for a Fisher and Paykel so i can get started! I found some PVC blades on the web but they don't give all the info, the blades are cut from 100 mm SWV PVC pipe 500 mm long but the info doesn't say how wide at the tip and it also says to cut 50 mm out of the base but 50 mm by what ?? does anyone have more info on these blades because i have loads of the underground orange PVC which has a better wall which would be around 6 mm where the 100 mm SWV would be around 3.5 mm

Hi many have started with this type of blade they seem very comman I had 3 shots at them in the beginning fast to build and good startup but that is the only good points very slow speed hard to balance and any (real)wind and they turn inside out and break
If DIY is you I recomend oztules wooden blades my f&p flys them and they are great or the blades sold on this site also have terrific results and will way out perform any pipe type of blade (and live)
many will help here with your new mill as we all lov em.

oh just noticed also 3 blades are a better number than 4 Edited by shawn 2011-04-30

There is heaps of projects and information and helpful people on this forum that will get you started, but you need to do a lot of reading to find and learn as each project is different.Blade diameter, tail length, voltage, output, etc etc is pretty much as I can gather as experimental until the mill you build works well for that particular build.

Look through this site all you need is here!! it just takes time and heaps of it but this time will be well spent and will cut down on failures we all have them!
By the end of your learning curve if you do not have a pile of broken mill bits you probly live in a poor wind site.
You can click on my profile and see the early posts of my f&p mill one was called pictures to share (i think)
GOOD luck and yes we will help but you have to do some homework
