My parents retired a several years ago on a hobby farm and have increasingly tried to become more and more self sufficiant. They are talking about going off grid but think that the cost is going to be way more than what than can afford.
I recently started investigating diy turbines (they live very close to the ocean and have a constant onshore wind) to see if I could help them achieve thier goal.

I have built a Lenz2 turbine on a F&P motor (i basically went for size and dimentions that were about the same as others using the F&P set up)and I am now trying to sort out the electrics.

I have gathered that rewiring from 3P to 6P or 9P is advantagious but don't know how to do it.
I have rectified the 3phase but am not even sure that I have done this correctly?
My multi-meter has read in excess of 40V but I can't even get a 40w light bulb to show even the slightest glimmer.

I really am electrically impared, even using a multimeter is testing for me!!!

Was wondering if there is anyone who is knowledgable with the F&P set up in Brisbane or if somebody knows a link that contains the for dummies version of what I should do!
I have seen some kits advertised, can anyone recomend a kit?

I picked up a discarded LG Directdrive washer dryer a few days ago, I would consider parting with it if someone in Brisbane could tutor me the basics.

(will post a picture of my turbine when the kids get off the other computer!!)

Hi Wild wabbit (like that)...

I'm near Mt.Tamborine , will swap you quite a few F&P bits and pieces ,(u'll be surprised) , for your LG . If you want .

I'm an hour drive down the M1 and we could have a sausage sizzle when you get here.
