Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

found this in help section ......pics can sometimes be akward but once you get one uploaded ..robert is your mothers brother..

[Images can be added to your posts, if the forum administrators have allowed uploading of images you can use this to upload an image from your own computer into your message. However, if image uploading is not available then you will need to link to the image that needs to be stored on a publicly accessible web server, eg. http://www.mysite.com/my-picture.jpg.
Before you can upload a image, you need to make sure it is of the correct size and format. All images should be either JPEG ( or JPG, best for photos ), or GIF ( Gif is best for drawings, plans, etc ), and no more than 500k in size. Modern digital cameras take very large pictures, sometimes over 2000 pixels wide, so you need to scale the picture down before you try to upload them to the forum. The forum will automatically resize the image for you ( JPG are resized to 500 pixels wide, GIF to 1000 pixels ), but to speed up the uploading of your images, you should scale them yourself before uploading. To scale your photo down, you need to use a image editing program. There are many image editing programs available, Paint Shop Pro and Adobe Photoshop being two good examples. You can also us Paint, the free image program installed as part of Windows.
To resize your photos in Paint....

1. Click on [Start] [All Programs] [Accessories] and then on [Paint]. It may be in a different place on your computer.
2. Once Paint is open, click on [File] [Open] and browse for the photo you wish to work with.
3. Click on [Image] [Attributes] to find out the current photo width. Write down the figure.
4. Click on [Image] [Stretch and Skew]. We need to resize our photo so it is about 800 pixels wide. If the original width was say 2000 pixels, we need to resize it to 40% to bring the width down to 800 pixels. So enter 40% for both the Horizontal and Verticle size, and hit OK. This has resized our picture.
5. Now click [File] [Save As]. Find a location you wish to save your new photo to, change the file name if you like, and select JPEG as the file type. Remember if you dont change the file name and save in the original location, you will overwrite your original picture.

And thats it, done. A file reduced from 2000 down to 800 pixels is about 1/6th of its original size!] Edited by niall1 2011-01-24
