this is just a bit more fun with the chainsaw method

the jig is changed a bit (not much) from the one oztules used ,so the saw is set up to crosscut (or mill out) the wood....the blank is on a moving table run off a windscreen wiper motor , even though its a little electric saw its surprisingly accurate and clean when you get the drop angles and guide cut lines right ..(kind of chop 5mm and go)
it works fine for cutting out the windward side ...i think it,d even be better with much larger blades , the back side with a non linear twist is much more problematic so thats where the experiment ended ..

...the original method was used on another jig to do this

fun all the same though..chainsaws arnt near as brutal as they seem ..

Rather clever, and can see it could work well.

hi Pete/Shawn

there might be some other options with the jig method , maybe setting up a planer /thickneser in some way with a moving table , interesting to think about ....
hard to construct..

the kiss approach to blades keeps coming back though ...3 degrees at the tip , 6 in the middle and whatevers left at the root ..mmm

I am going to make a jig for my blade construction and cut them with a router this has already worked well for me but it was a while ago and I did not know about this 4m then.
I loved cutting blades with the chainsaw for my f&p mill but the tail wags up and down when its turning slow runs fine when under load! so I think I might go back to the router its a little more accurate I think.
