Hi everyone, I have finally got my F&P up and going and feeding into the grid.
The setup consists of a bridge rectifier a 24v regulator/charge controller, a low voltage device 2x12v batteries and a powerjack 600watt.
The powerjack draws 18amps at 24volts from the battery bank, and puts out 240v at 1.5amps about 360watts. The LVD switches off when the batteries drop below 24.4v for 10 sec's and switches back in when the voltage goes up to 26v for 10sec's.This saves my batteries from going flat.
I do have a problem with the F&P stator, I have a 2x7C which gives 24v very easily
at 60RPM however only 1amp, this was mesured while turning the mill by hand (the wind was'nt blowing this weekend)The other stator is wired for 12v however, turning by hand again I'm getting 12v but it's not enough to charge the batteries.
So does anyone know why I'm getting very low amps? Is it lack of RPM's? Or am I
measuring it in the wrong place? I'm measuring the positive between the bridge rectifier and the charge controller. Any advice would be appreciated.

At 60 rpm i am suprised you get that much power.

You need to be around 200 rpm or above to produce reasonable power.

See what happens when the wind has a decent blow.

If you look at the bottom of this page you can see the result I had with my F&P

power chart

You can double the stator/rotors; you can do what I did and replace the magnets with neos. This will increase your potential power. As mentioned above, in order to get this power you need higher RPMs, which means more wind.

I have just been reading about your project (power chart)and it's very interesting
you must have spent hours on this project. You don't show how you changed the magnets. I would like to know where you bought them? how many? and what size?
I did originally start this project to make use of the strong easterlies we get from November to March, but would be nice to be able to get some power from everyday winds.

Thanks I have just had a look, don't know how I missed it.
I've twisted my poles so the magnets can be straight, just going to have a look for some on ebay, $75 for postage sounds a bit pricy.

I've just found some N42 on a U/K site on ebay, 25X10X3 $42.00 for 60 plus postage,waiting to find out how much. Because my poles are twisted and rounded I have virtually no cogging, do you think the stronger magnets will bring back the cogging?
