Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Here's some pics of my ornamental gen, one of those superduper LEDs is stuck inside the pingpong ball rated to start at about 3.5v which it does early and so is on most of the time (cant be seen to easily during the day) at night the ball glows real bright.

Hi Storm.

That windmill reminds me of my first little windmill I made. It used a stepper motor and had a tiny lightbulb. I remember the day I built it, I went out that night and came home about 10pm. From the front gate of the property I could see this tiny light. I was hooked! It was such a pleasure to see this tiny light buld lit up in the evening breeze. That started me on windmills as a hobby.

I dont know whether the birds like the clear blades, thought I'd make it less obtrusive for my neibours, when its spinning the blades are very difficult to see, it may be a good option for urban power gens, if the tail arm was crafted clear then it would look just like an aerial pole.

That's a cool windmill Gizmo, how long did it take to make and what do you use if for? I too have a fascination for generating free electricity but I thought I'd start with the mini mill and work my way up.

Just had to add a picture of my first mini mill here too. The motor is a stepper out of an old flat bed scanner. It generates up to 50 VDC going full blat, but only at a 100 mA or so.

These are so much fun to experiment with! My next project is a VAWT from a PM modified induction motor.

BTW - great to see the new forum Glenn, and the updates to the charger/regulator. Keep up the great work.
