Hi all, I'm a longtime reader but first time poster as they say. We're looking to set up an offgrid power solution that will provide 8-10 kWh. Using data we have collected it seems a set up of 2kW windpower and 1kW solar array should see us produce enough power 99/100 days. Our property is a large grazing block so we have the necessary open space to run a turbine. We are looking to feed power into a 24 volt 1660Ah bank and out through a 24 volt 4kW inverter to the house. We already have a 3kW 240v genset powering the build site and would purchase a 24volt DC set purely to condition batteries if needed. It is important I can plug in more solar panels/turbines as our power needs increase. The problem we have is part of our business model has Joe Public using our facilities so we can't use homemade solutions purely from an insurance point of view. If someone could kindly point me in the direction of a tutorial that explains what sort of off the shelf components I need to make this hybrid system work I would really appreciate it. I intend to assemble the system then have a licensed sparky buy off/commission the job when finished. |

Best advice I could give is have a retailer design and supply even if you have your electrical contractor install. Have a look here.http://www.rpc.com.au/ allan "I like this place and willingly could waste my time in it" - (Act II, Scene IV). |

Thanks for the reply. We've had quotes done by several companies in Adelaide and if it isn't grid connect solar or solar/generator for a RAPS they are completely clueless. I've since found a controller that seems capable of handling decent input, will allow me to select the dump output and should be suited to the hybrid system at http://www.colemanair.us |
