Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

This is for the new Colour Maximite firmware 4.4beta6. Check out my SPRITE DEMO that shows how to use the Sprite commands and was a tester to utilize the new SPRITE COPY command. Also, a new version of my FileManager program, now only for the Color Maximite with 4.4beta6 and newer. Go to my website at: http://www.members.optusnet.com.au/nickma/MaximiteProjects/ Nick |

Hm... is there any particular reason for a basic file manager to REQUIRE colours? Looks like a strange decision to me... http://rittle.org -------------- |

Because I can. :) I write software for the *Colour* Maximite and considering that most LCD VGA screens now are colour, it seemed logical. And there was heaps of memory left over when I had it in mono and I felt I wasn't using the Colour Maximite to it's full potential... so I added colour. The file manager is for people who use the Colour Maximite as a computer for programming and running a variety of programs, not for dedicated applications anyway. I can see you're a fan of monochrome judging by your monochrome icon. I'm curious to know how it looks in monochrome. Unusable? Nick |

Fair enough :) Just asking. I haven't tried 4.4 (waiting the final one) yet, but when I do, will give you some feedback. http://rittle.org -------------- |

Hi Nick, It is great that you have wrote the file manager and all the games for the colour MM, but just sit back and think how many people are still using the monochrome MM units. Not sure just how many 1,000's did buy the original MM, DM and home brew types etc. That file manager does look useful and a monochrome version would be great so it is up to you if you want to make a mono version. Hmmm. I must get out my old mono maximite and burn the latest firmware. I wonder if the software would still run only just in monochrome. I thought the firmware was downward compatible. (Is that right?) Has anyone tried running it on the mono maximite with the latest firmware? Is the latest firmware available for it yet since 4.4 is still at beta 6. If there were 1000 mono Maximite users prepared to pay me for the effort, I'd jump at the chance and create a mono version. But as it stands, there isn't so I program for the unit that interests me more and allows me to be more creative. Nick |

I'm one and I still find it satisfies my craving for writing programs. Cheers, Hugh |

I installed the latest available firmware into my mono Maximite... v4.3. Unfortunately, filemanager does need v4.4 to correct the problem that DIM guzzled so much RAM. 4.4 corrects this. When 4.4 comes out, I think Filemanager will work so I will be curious to see what it looks like as only B/W. Nick |

The 4.4 Beta 6 download includes a version for the mono Maximite. Try that. Geoff Geoff Graham - http://geoffg.net |

Ok! It does indeed work although the colours muck things up. I'll Make a mono version from the colour version code and add that into the same archive. Nick |

Done. Fileman Mono version works. I will upload it tomorrow once I've had some more time to check that I didn't miss out anything. That's 1000 satisfied customers! And remember, if you like the program, feel free to make a donation. If you don't like the program, then... don't use it I guess. Nick |

Don't forget that you can use the read only variable MM.DEVICE$ to tell what device you are running on (CMM, MM, DMM, etc). Using that, your program can dynamically make the changes necessary and you would end up with one program file that fits all. Geoff Geoff Graham - http://geoffg.net |

I've placed a preliminary copy of File Manager 2.0 for download on the website. It's seems fine but please test and let me know of any major issues. I have no plans (or time) for more features, only looking for bugs at this stage. This version should work on both colour and monochrome Maximites. Make sure you download MMBasic 4.4beta6 firmware first. Nick |
