Hi all. Not wanting to remove and resolder to the CGCMM so I can put the power LED and SD activity LED on the main panel, I heard that you can get some kind of fiber-optic stuff that is ideal for routing the light from SMD LED's to a panel so they can be seen from the outside of the case. Does anyone know of such stuff and what it is called and where to get it? I will have a search around on Element-14 now, but I don't know what they actually call the stuff, unless it is just called fiber-optic thread or something.... EDIT: Found these things at Jaycar.... http://www.jaycar.co.nz/productView.asp?ID=HP1192&keywords=l ight+transporter&form=KEYWORD Smoke makes things work. When the smoke gets out, it stops! |

J21 on a CGCOLORMAX2 (TWO) connects to the 'power' LED. I'll add one for the SD access LED on the next spin. Micromites and Maximites! - Beginning Maximite |

Not being critical, CG! Just looking at a way to use the existing ones. No need to redesign! Smoke makes things work. When the smoke gets out, it stops! |

No worries, Grog! I added the J21 header so that the power LED can be used as an extra output. Never thought to do it for the blue LED (SD card) but it costs nothing to add it to the next potential spin. Micromites and Maximites! - Beginning Maximite |

Hi CG, If you do "spin" again it might be worth dimensioning for customers to optionally add one of those light pipes from Mick's link and add them to the package - that way it's still all SMD's. I see you've moved the resistors away from the LED's on the "2" (compared to the "1") but the LED's are probably still a bit too close to the card reader. Greg |
