Hi Folks, Using a DM Mega via USB so defaults to composite video mode. Anyone any idea how to trick the DM into thinking a VGA monitor is attached at power up so I can have 80 x 36 in edit mode? Thanks, Doug.

Rule 1 for Panky - think a bit before you post! Had a look at the cct diagram and it appears the DM Mega uses the Red Return line - VGA Pin 6 - to detect if a VGA monitor is attached. So, take a small link of wire - eg. a 1/4 W resistor lead and short Pin 6 to Pin 7 on the VGA connector (this puts a ground on pin 6 for the Mega to autodetect). Looking at the VGA connector, this is the first and second pins from the right in the second (middle) row. Works a treat.
Sorry if I made anyone waste time researching this. Doug.

Panky

If it's of any comfort, your post did help me figure out the same for a Duinomite. Without the Duinomite-IO this unit has no VGA (I don't need it, nor the KB or sound or video, I use DM same way as you, via USB and terminal).

I connected D8/UEXT_#CS/VIDEO_SEL (CON5 pin1) with GND on same CON5 (pin7), and now the DM boots in VGA mode.

Thanks

Thierry
