Apple iOS6 Disaster? I was having a few problems with a new iPAD and an iOS6 firmware upgrade. I found it is it is not just the maps, it seems to have some other very serious issues. After a little research I found a discussion thread below on Apple that talks about the slowness and corrective action. This slowness on iOS 6 is a common problem, not just with some apps but with everything. This is an Apple problem. There are ways it seems to correct it but they involve doing a backup and a full restore. Here is a thread that discusses the problem: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4315499 Google "iOS6 disaster" for plenty of user feed back on this. Only comments from Apple are on maps, not the other issues. These iOS6 problems cover iPHONEs, iPODs, and iPADs. Just wondering if others are finding these types of problems. One thing I learned from my days as a IT manager is never upgrade to a new OS. Wait until its been in the wild for a few months/years, or a service pack has been released. I have a iPhone, and waited for a few reviews of the new iOS6 before upgrading. When I read about the maps app, and its problem, I decided to give this update a miss for now, I use the maps function of my iPhone a lot and didn't want to risk loosing its functionality. My iPhone is on notice thats its going to get replaced with a non-apple smart phone in the near future anyway. Its just not very good in my rural location, and too often it sends its battery flat overnight searching for a signal. Hi Don I have a few WiFi networks that I look after and IOS6 is making this real hard most users on IOS6 are having a WiFi connectivity issue. It seems that it only works when I change the encryption type ? Regards John |

Thanks John, there are heaps of reports about the WiFi problems and possibly fixes. Here is just one: http://tinyurl.com/8t3d2b3 Under the heading "More like this" on the right hand side nav list, you will find some more. Don... EDIT: Adding to encryption type, I just found this in a thread: Go to your router admin page, and, if it uses WPA2, then you guys set wireless security Encryption to TKIP. https://www.dontronics.com |

I learned the hard way from my original iPhone to wait for the operating system to settle out. I've had comfort in knowing that an upgrade can be reversed and always go backward a level but if you have the 5 aren't you stuck with iOS6? That is a rotten apple. www.elproducts.com |

Now I know why it has the bite out of it. I feel if they offered a full on-line down grade to 5, and a full apology on iOS-6, not just the maps, they would get better mileage with loyal customers. Don... https://www.dontronics.com |
