How can you easily add off the shelf batteries to a project that has an Arduino Shield Footprint? I found out about this novel idea from Chuck Hellebuyck's recent newsletter. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/818225433/arduino-style- battery-shield Be sure to check out the video that fully explains the project. http://kck.st/NPB1qG This project uses quad "AAAA" batteries. I have never shopped for these, so I don't know if they are readily available, or how pricing goes. Don... https://www.dontronics.com |

Don, Thanks for mentioning my kickstarter project. It was just a fun project to share and see if there was any interest. I built them for a robot I had running around at MakerFaire Detroit. I've since been using them with chipKIT and CHIPINO projects and have found them very handy. Based on the schematic, I believe a Battery Shield can power a Color Maximite through the Arduino headers. Let me know what you find out about the AAAA batteries. They are popping up here in the USA just about everywhere but I've had a few people tell me they can't find them outside USA. I know you can get them online but shipping costs may be a problem. I did find that Radio Shack sells them in bulk online only. www.elproducts.com |

I had never heard of them but a quick Google shows that they are around. Here is one site at $7.15 for a blister pack of two |
