Just loaded V3.1 into my MM. Problem is that Tera Term is slow to connect and when it does, there is no communication between the MM and my PC. Reloaded V2.7 and it works again. Reload V3.1 and it wont communicate. I am running XP. Any ideas or has any body else had that problem? Kevin. There's no such thing as a free lunch. |

Check the 3.1 manual. Tips in there if I recall about Tera Term. You probably need a delay after characters sent of a few milliseconds. Can't recall exactly what is suggested. |

Thanks crackerjack for advice. I have set up Tera Term as per 3.1 manual. Problem is related to Ver 3.0 onwards. Ver 2.7B backwards is fine. Ver 3. onwards causes Tera Term to become unstable, slow to connect, slow to comunicate and also do some weird thinks like bringing up copyright laws and websites all relating to MM. ???? I have reinstalled all software and disabled antiviris programs to no good. Yet go back to Ver 2.7 All good. There's no such thing as a free lunch. |

You lost me Why would a comms program have anything to do with Firmware on the PIC32 ? BTW the MMBasic command "copyright" brings up what you are talking about > copyright DuinoMite MMBasic V3.1R Updates at http://geoffg.net/maximite.html Overall Copyright (c) 2011, 2012 Geoff Graham. Yes I am lost too. Tera Term works fine with Ver 2.7 but wont work properly with Ver 3.x onwards. Ver 3.x on my MM is affecting the way Tera Term works! When I highlighted what was on the screen in Tera Term and right clicked my mouse, the screen brought up... copyright DuinoMite MMBasic V3.1R Updates at http://geoffg.net/maximite.html Overall Copyright (c) 2011, 2012 Geoff Graham. Worm, do you have any other serial-connected hardware present at the same time as you are having this issue? I have noticed some odd behavior, mainly erratic responses, if I have other devices connected but I've not been able to pinpoint exactly what the cause or solution is. I don't know if there is a connection between this and MMBasic post-3.0 in my case... |

When the USB port is activated by starting terraterm you will get a brief notice: Maximite BASIC Version 3.1 Copyright 2011, 2012 Geoff Graham That is new to version 3. When you right click the mouse in terraterm, it does a 'paste' so whatever was in the clipboard goes in. That is something I do not like but it is a terraterm thing, nothing to do with the maximite. (Using version 3.1.3 of terraterm) If you had 'copyright' in the clipboard, you would get the full copyright notice. If you are trying to 'edit' by pasting into the terraterm window you will have problems. Now that MM Basic has a full screen editor, the speed has slowed and pasting multiple lines is just too fast for the editor. You may be able to use the 'auto' command instead which will paste a full program in easily. It depends on what you are trying to do. Jim VK7JH MMedit MMBasic Help |

No apart from a USB printer. I tried removing my USB printer cable. No difference. When I open Tera Term, depending on the delay it takes to connect, depends on how many times I get the "Maximite BASIC Version 3.0 Copyright 2011, 2012 Geoff Graham" duplicated. eg. 2,3 or even 4 duplications. I dont know if that helps? There's no such thing as a free lunch. |

I now under stand TassyJim. Thanks. Yes it is slooow. Is between 1 to 5 sec's delay between typing a single letter, untill it shows up in Tera Term normal? There's no such thing as a free lunch. |

No, Teraterm is only a problem when you are pasting into the editor. Normal usage should be fast and reliable. I don't have any problems with MM Basic V3.1 for normal use. Have you tried Putty or another serial terminal program? Jim VK7JH MMedit MMBasic Help |

G'day, Possibly a problem with the configuration of Teraterm. I had problems under Mac OS Lion initially, which I think may have been related to the character set the terminal emulator was using. I also got the copyright/boot message several times when I first connected to the Duinomite. I often get the message twice, and the Error message about the missing SD card is usually cut off. This is not a problem with a VGA monitor connected directly, so I think it is just due to the delay in initialisation of the terminal. Try different configuration options in Teraterm, and see if this fixes your problem. As TassyJim suggested, it is definitely worth giving putty a go, at least this will give you an indication as to whether it is a hardware or software issue. For those who want to get this working under OS X, in Terminal select Terminal->Preferences, then Settings, and then under the advanced tab check Delete sends ctrl-H. You may need to change another option in the settings, I can't quite remember exactly what I touched.. alans-Mac-Pro:~ alan$ ls /dev/ | grep tty.usbmodem tty.usbmodem5a11 alans-Mac-Pro:~ alan$ screen /dev/tty.usbmodem5a11 The advantage of using screen is that it comes with your Mac, there is no need to install additional software. Cheers, Alan. |
