Dontronics can sell you a bare board at a fraction of the price that other companies are offering, and we will post it off to you world wide, as an Air Mail letter, saving you potential problems with customs and local tax. Dontronics sells them for $9.95AUD plus $2AUD postage if you wish to purchase as a letter, for a total of $11.95AUD. (approx. $12.40USD) See this Page for Air Mail Letter details: http://www.dontronics-shop.com/maximite-pcb-letter.html Or this page for quantity discounts with standard postage: http://www.dontronics-shop.com/maximite-pcb.html Cheers Don... https://www.dontronics.com |

The PIC can be got from ebay or such as Farnell (element14). I expect the latter do the sockets too. John |

The EXACT SD socket is a bit difficult to locate, from my searching, (Altronics were out of stock but they may have new stock by now and is probably where I would start looking) but there is plenty of room to mount a micro-SD socket and hardwire the pins to the relevant pads on the PCB,. Admittedly not the neatest solution but it would work... Just the card inserted detection isnt supported on uSD sockets... Of course, with the latest version of MM basic, it can use the A:drive, which means using the internal flash ram for program storage, so you don't even need an SD card for most applications. Cheers Don... https://www.dontronics.com |

Guys, You can get free samples at http://sample.microchip.com. I know its free shipping in USA and maybe outside USA, just not sure. Anyway, I believe most people who register can get three samples each of two products per month. That's 3 - PIC32MX795F512H and 3 - PIC32MX695F512H Both work on this board. Don, I believe these boards would be very valuable if they had the CHIP and SD socket soldered in place. The rest is easy to find and install. Chuck www.elproducts.com |

I agree the PIC soldered to the board would be appreciated by many. I'd say the second improvement would be a pre-programmed PIC soldered on board. Soldering the SD socket isn't too hard though. |

If I recall correctly, pre-programmed PIC32 chips for the Maximite are available from Silicon Chip. Of course, then there is the small problem of soldering them on the board. "PCB boards and programmed micros for recent SILICON CHIP projects are directly available from SILICON CHIP. Email pcbs@siliconchip.com.au " |

I agree 100%, is there enough of us who would `pre-order' a chip from Don that might encourage him to trial a soldered/programmed chip as an option..??? NOTE! I have not yet asked Don if this is a direction he is prepared to take but if demand is there I cant see why not.. Don.... its in your court now. Mick PS. On this subject, if the chip is soldered onto the PCB are there any support components required to program the chip, I am assuming that a PicKit 2 or 3 is to be used to program them? Or does the PicKit take care of that? Regards, Mick Mick's uMite Stuff can be found >>> HERE (Kindly hosted by Dontronics) <<< |

It is offering an alternative for people etching their own boards, or purchasing adapter boards, to see if there is a market for this sort of thing, as many users want to roll their own, as they may already have access to a suitable PIC programmer, and other facilities. I may review the situation at a later point. The cost of parts starts to get close to the cost of either the assembled and tested CGMMSTICK1, or the DuinoMite-Mini, so unless you really want to build your own, it seems hard to justify selling a board and chip for around the $20+ mark. Yes, Silicon Chip is already offering the board and chip. Cheers Don... https://www.dontronics.com |
