Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

I was going to attached a MaxiMite to the Internet connected Ninja Blocks. This "Australian company" got its start using Kickstarter, a Internet funding portal. When I asked for the specifications, for the Internet connected Ninja Blocks, they informed me that the specifications are still subject to change BUT for $255 USD, I could pre-order them "sight unseen" for May delivery. <--- WOW! Funny, their CEO email address points to downtown San Francisco, California not to any city in Australia? The Kickstarter hype must be clouding their common business practices expecting their customers to pay for something upfront, sight unseen with no specs. The Raspberry PI started this all but a word of caution for other users "let the buyer beware" or you will lose your money! If you pay with PayPal or Visa/MasterCard you will get a refund. |

Now this is a genuwine Orstraylyan project. I am about to go into business with a thought powered lawnmower. I am looking for early investors. Please don't advertise it too far as I think the oil companies will be out to stop me. This will send them all bankrupt if we can get all Orstraylyan lawnmowers off ordinary fuel and run by thought. I also have an excellent line in snake oil ... |

I think the answer is that Kickstarter is only available to the USA, probably due to the relationship with Amazon.com. So to use the system, you must have a US primary address (i.e. be 'based' in the United States). Aussies can't make use of the Kickstarter program any other way. See here. - Rob. For crying out loud, all I wanted to do was flash this blasted LED. |

Yes, looks like that some guys have money and another guys want to spend them, see one of the Kickstarter projects: A gorgeous and thoughtful feature documentary exploring the lives of young transsexuals and drag queens in Puerto Rico, Mala Mala documents a delicate, dualistic, and fascinating culture in one of the only colonized territories still governed by the United States. boss |
