Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

(MM-DM) News from Sparkey

If you have been on the TBS forum and this group for any length of time, you will know of Sparkey.

He just popped in to pick up a MOD-IO for his new DuinoMite Mega.

A few days ago, I gave him an early green proto Rev A DM-Mega, that pretty much worked, with the exception of the SD card, as there has been schematic changes since the Rev A.

He loaded MM2.7a into the old DM-Mega and said it worked via a terminal program, and he was able to run basic programs.

I was a little shocked that he had even thought of doing this, but decided to load up MM V2.7b into a Mega while he was here.

Yes, it worked, even drive A: worked, but because of the hardware differences, we had no VGA, keyboard, or SD card, but we were able to run BASIC programs that didn't use any I/O, as the BASIC core of both the MM and the DM is the same.

Yes the BASIC is 100% compatible, it is the hardware that is different.

Cheers Don...

I personally think its a shame things went the way they did with sparky, he had alot of passion for the site ( too much at times ), lets hope that with time, a spellchecker and some "chill pills" we may see his colorful return.
Dont get me wrong, his banning was completely his own doing and no-ones elses fault but hopefully he will have learnt from that, and have a place here again sometime. IMHO

Yes now we need a version of the MMbasic that auto-detects the hardware and caters for the differences
Geoffg / Ken how about it?.

Sparkey was a bad boy and had to be baned. I think there is going to be a few people who are going to miss him. Plus I feel we should call all spell checkers, The Sparkey spell checker, after the famous Sparkey.

Naughty Sparkey! What did he do that was so damaging, prey tell? I thought maybe he had zapped himself with one of his concoctions.
I thought he was very entertaining.

I think Sparkey might of had a flash back and posted some naughty comments and no, I dont think he zapped himself, but I could be wrong.
