Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

An alpha release of RetroBSD for Maximite is available: http://retrobsd.googlecode.com/files/retrobsd-maximite-r345. zip USB port is used for console. No hardware changes or bootloader replacement is required. ___ Serge |

The USB port reports RetroBSD Console and won't take the Silicon Chip USB serial driver. Can you amend the Silicon Chip driver or change the RetroBSD response on the USB connection? |

RetroBSD have remarkable improvements and I test today the latest build, which now have C compiler and it supports PIC32 GPIOs and ADCs with API. I did small step-by-step tutorial how to setup RetroBSD on DuinoMite HERE |

the C compiler works fine "In r425 C compiler had an incorrect pathname inside. It’s reported that the issue is identified and already fixed. http://retrobsd.org/topic/bug-ette-in-cc-c/ Fetch newer filesys.img for your SD." |

I think there's a forum for it so you could ask there if there isn't one on the obvious place (see link above). John |

It helps a lot if you have a linux machine... (preferably Ubuntu). Then you can get the last svn sources (you have to always do that) and compile them (you also need to get the Microchip pic32 compiler, a package made by Kajita.). See http://retrobsd.org. It helps also if you have a news feeder, to know when a modification is made to the sources, and the reason developer did it. Then you can decide for yourself if you need to upgrade or not. Is this topic still active? I have a Colour Maximite. I've tried flashing rev r348's unix.hex, no problem there. I power cycle, and absolutely nothing happens. No lights, no USB/serial device detected, absolutely nothing. I can flash back to MMBASIC and everything is fine again. So it would seem no one has tested this lately on a Colour Maximite... Regards, Mark |

RetroBSD was ported to the monochrome Maximite. The Colour Maximite is different in many ways so it is not surprising that it will not work. Geoff Geoff Graham - http://geoffg.net |

Colour Maximite in several essential respects, which make it impossible to run the kernel from the monochrome Maximite.
It was tested using CircuitGizmos CGCOLORMAX2 board. Best wishes, --Serge |

Awesome! I'll try it out later today. Has it been officially added to the source tree in r891? -Mark |

Yes, of cause: all the changes have been checked in as r891. You can see the kernel configuration file here: https://code.google.com/p/retrobsd/source/browse/current/sys /pic32/maximite-color/MAXCOLOR --Serge |

Serge, This is a great piece of work for Maximite family users. Have you considered adding it to the MMBasic library. I don't think the library is just for programs written in MMBasic but for the advancement generally of the Maximite community. Greg |
