i have a creative "modem..blaster" 28.8k modem with all the connection cables ... question is is this thing of any use given the fact that i still "use dial up" it runs fine on xp and drivers are around but is there any point to this or should i just use it as i found it a door stopper...regards sparkey...///...///.. technicians do it with least resistance |

What do you want to do with it sparkey? Use it with the Maximite? The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago, the second best time is right now. JAQ |

Then yes you could use it with the maximite for basic actions. You would need to set it up as a serial device, send commands to it from the Maximite, and read what it sends back. I think there is a basic terminal program for the Maximite here somewhere, that will get you started. Modems use a special command set, Haynes I think it was called. Most commands start with AT. If you send "AT", short for attention, followed by a carrage return ( enter, or chr$(13) ), the modem will respond with a "OK". A command like ATDT 1234 will cause the modem to go off hook and dial 1234. Look up modem AT commands on the internet. oh thank you looks like i am going to have to dug into some reading .....i actully though i would get shut ...no shot down in flames for even thinking that this would be possable....regards sparkey ...the modem has both serial and parralell connectors on it and i hav used it on the net a while ago ...any way thank`s...///.../// technicians do it with least resistance |
