So the I/O PCB I made was primary for this project

I fiited a car PC a while back so the screen was allready there.
As this screen has the VGA connected to the car PC I have set the Maximite
to composite video and with a quick button press I now have a display of the
vitals courtesy of the Maximite

John,

That is absolutely fantastic. A great example of what you can do with the gadget and a big incentive for me to add some more fonts - nice big ones.

If it is OK with you, could you send me the original high res jpegs (email address is below). I would like to include them in an upcoming SC article.

and send them off to your email address

I will look forward to the larger fonts. I have ordered a MM from Dontronics and plan on using it as a replacement master controller/display for my electric vehicle battery management system. At the moment the system uses picBasic Pro on a pic 16F886 and a serial to video chip at 16x9 characters driving a 3.5inch lcd monitor. The MM will enable better graphics and also allow anyone to contribute/modify the software without having to buy the pbp complier. Along with the larger fonts, how about the ability to invert fonts or the display? We use that at the moment to highlight errors such as a cell voltage to high or low. Or how about the ability to blink characters?

Thanks Geoff for the MM.

Greg

P.S. The bms project is here.

I love it. Nice work John.
What a great example of Maximite/MMBASIC in action.
All soon to be open sourced so this could easily be reproduced.

This type of sharing is how Arduino grew so big and it couldn't do something like this as easy as Maximite does.

Now we need to find a source for low cost small VGA monitors.
Anybody have one?

Hey that's me. Actually more i/o pins is quite low on my wish list for the MM. Higher priority for me would be some large fonts and 1-wire support. I have been following the MM since I heard about it on the Amp Hour. With the introduction of 2 COM ports capable of 19200 baud, that ticked all the boxes for me. I am looking forward to my MM arriving.

Very nice. Are you considering transferring the boost control function to the Maximite?

Hi James

Yip i was thinking about that as the car still has the stock ECU but a much
improved BOV.
I have seen many aftermarket boost controllers and I am pretty sure
this can be done with a maximite. Just need to work out how and what they do.
(Any ideas). Check this link http://gizzmousa.com/IBCR.html

There are some good threads on the Skyline Australia forum about using the ECU diagnostic port.
I bought a PC interface kit through dealextreme.com but never got to use it before a friend wrote off my GT/R. I think it was only around $50 including postage. I'd try that first to get an idea of the control signals and the range of available data.
There's a Silicon Chip publication on performance enhancements that is a good reference. It describes an SC boost controller kit but I don't think it included the source code.
