Hi everyone,

There is a new version (2.6) of the Maximite firmware (including MMBasic) available for download at http://geoffg.net/maximite.html#Downloads

This is essentially the same as the test version 2.5F. It contains the serial interface and the new version of EOF() and the new functions LOC() and LOF() which report the state of the transmit and receive buffers.

The "Maximite User Manual" has also been upgraded to V2.6 to include the new features.

Hi Geoff and all,

I just programmed my Maximite with version 2.6, and sadly need to report a problem.

The left-most column of characters on the VGA screen are missing completely! The monitor I use is a Philips 150S4 which auto-adjusts itself, and up to now has worked fine with the Maximite.

I seem to be able to adjust this manually, though, so I can work around the problem.

Yes, this slight shift to the left is a result of a change in the video driver routines.

However, this change also delivered a speed improvement of 30% and a complete absence of the video glitches which had cropped up in the past. So I figured that a little horizontal adjustment was worth it to get the resulting benefits.

Loaded up on my Maximite fine, bumped the monitors horizonal a bit and its spot on, the cleanest I've seen the VGA output to date.

I almost thought there was a problem, but I was just been dumb. I last used the Maximite as a tachometer using the little 16X2 LCD panel as its display. To do this 2.6 update I did the usual, press the update firmware button, power up, loaded the new firmware and reboot. Used the TereTerm to log in, and could see it had booted up, but it wouldn't respond to the keyboard. Locked up? Rebooted a few times, same response, plugged in a keyboard and VGA monitor, same problem! What was wrong.

Then I remembered, the tachomoter program was called AUTORUN.BAS! So the Maximite was doing what I was supposed to do. The tachomoter program runs in a loop. Doh!

Poped out the SD card and all was good.
