A little while ago, I was talking about the Olimex UEXT, and the advantages.

I had asked Tsvetan from Olimex if he could put a product listing together for me, as well as an explanation. I just received this very informative PDF from him:

Universal EXTension connector (UEXT)

http://www.themaximitecomputer.com/max/Programs/
Then Select Hardware/Dontronics/Olimex/UEXT.pdf

or direct from the Olimex site:
http://www.olimex.com/dev/OTHER/UEXT.pdf

All three of the DuinoMite (Maximite compatible) boards will have the UEXT connectors. The Mega has two, one internal, and one external.

First new board using this bus, may be an I2C RTC, so that all boards can be easily upgraded to RTCs very simply. Just plug them in.

Cheers Don...

Thanks Don, good stuff. It also pointed out an error in my implementation on the serial card ... I need to add pull-ups for the SDA and SCK signals. Best to find this out before they are built and shipped.

Great Rob,

I know Olimex is fitting the 4K7s on the main boards before getting to the UEXT connector, and I was concerned that they could be doubled up on.

I was thinking in your case, people may only buy the standard Maximite with 26 pin IDC connector, but that may not be completely true, as all of the Olimex boards also have the 26 pin connector.

Perhaps you should consider isolation pads on the the PCB just in case. Olimex use them everywhere for various options.

Of course, a resistor is usually easy to remove it the user needs to do this.

Cheers Don...
