Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

I was a member of the old original dial up MicroChip BBS when the internet came along, and all was transferred across to the Piclist. So I was one of the original members there as well. I posted a message there about the Maximite being at a fair in Detroit this week end. First message I have posted to the Piclist in 18 months. http://old.nabble.com/The-Maximite-Computer-td32143623.html I wouldn't call it a warm reception, more of a BASIC Language War in many ways, but time will tell. Man what a bunch of whingers! They don't know the product but have strong opinions anyway. I'm seeing this more and more on hacking sites as well. Bedroom engineers! Dave Everett |

Only two of the posters had taken the time to even look at what it was I was posting. To me it is verging on an insult to the poster, when there is no comment on the actual post itself. I have financially sponsored that group also. Ah well, they know best. With a bit of luck, there are more lurkers that gain a lot out of it. I know we have many lurkers on this group. And of course the replies are not representative of the group as a whole. Cheers Don... https://www.dontronics.com |

Don, those were the days. Dialling up a local number, and connecting to the X25 switch so that you could get a free connection to the Microchip BBS in the US. It brings back so many memories. Not necessarily all good ones. Stuart Time is nature's way of keeping everything from happening all at once. |

It was really something for Microchip to foot the bill on world phone calls in those days, so that customers would have good support. But then, did it really cost them much? Ran into people like David Tait, and Andy Warren in those days. You would remember them? Lots of other names that are still around, and posting to the current Piclist too.
