Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Is there a I2C chip that can do it? I think once we get the I2C functionality, a whole new world will open up and the Maximite will become one very versatile little computer. Personally, I think we should then leave the Maximite as it is. I mean its only a matter or time before someone asks for a printer port, FDD or IDE controller, and if it can run DOS! Where do we stop. I think we should be developing software and circuits to make use of the existing Maximite features, cause we have barely scratched the surface so far, and leave Geoff alone to fine tune the Maximite and work on other projects. I agree. No internal modding of the Maximite. That's the design Geoff created, that is what we have to work with. External plugin via the I/O connection should be the avenue for hardware mods and addons. And software development, again, use what has been provided. Any updates to the firmware should be directed to Geoff and he has the final decision on the design. Maybe, in 6-12 months time, Geoff will present us with a Maximite II which incorporates some of the extras we have asked for. |
