G'Day Guy's, So ordered some picoW's on the 18th and they turned up this morning so got onto Geoff's site and loaded up the firmware. This is the error shown Connected to COM16 at 115200 [CYW43] Failed to start CYW43 [CYW43] Failed to start CYW43 [CYW43] Failed to start CYW43 [CYW43] Failed to start CYW43 [CYW43] Failed to start CYW43 [CYW43] Failed to start CYW43 [CYW43] Failed to start CYW43 [CYW43] Failed to start CYW43 [CYW43] Failed to start CYW43 [CYW43] Failed to start CYW43 [CYW43] Failed to start CYW43 [CYW43] Failed to start CYW43 [CYW43] Failed to start CYW43 [CYW43] Failed to start CYW43 [CYW43] Failed to start CYW43 [CYW43] Failed to start CYW43 [CYW43] Failed to start CYW43 [CYW43] Failed to start CYW43 [CYW43] Failed to start CYW43 [CYW43] Failed to start CYW43 So did a clear flash and loaded V6 RC9 on and got the same error in both MMC and teraterm. Loaded up a second picoW and still the same error. Now in the webmite manual it does say the led will blink slowly and the led on the picoW is always on. Regards Bryan |

Can you get a command prompt with Ctrl-C? If so you can setup a connection to your router which might fix that problem. See the WebMite manual p24 "WiFi and Internet Functions". It's in the 5.08.00 download package. |

When I use Ctrl-C the screen session in MMC does pause then that error just comes back so no command prompt. Just tried a one line code option wifi "myplace", "secret" and had to reconnect MMC where that error continued now it did load the file and ran it with an error saying can't use option in code etc. I do have the manual open and had a good read before I loaded the firmware and when the command prompt didn't come up I tried the second picoW. |

Don't put it in your code enter it at the command prompt. Then type "Option List" and you should see it in your list of options. "It is better to be ignorant and ask a stupid question than to be plain Stupid and not ask at all" |

Ok, that's a problem. To see if it is a hardware or firmware problem first load Clear_flash.uf2 to wipe everything then load WebMiteV5.08.00.uf2 from the 5.08.00 package as that does boot properly. Then try "OPTION WIFI ssid, password" again to see if you get a connection. Make sure you are within range of your WiFi network when you do this. It expects to get a signal as soon as it re-boots. If that works download a fresh copy of the new firmware, in case the other is corrupted, then try loading it again. |

I don't know what board you have there but it is NOT a Raspberry Pi Pico W. Geoff Geoff Graham - http://geoffg.net |

Unfortunately I don't think that is a PicoW. The PicoW WiFi module has a metal shield, the antenna is different and it has a micro USB socket, not USB C. Check the sellers description of it. Core Electronics has the genuine article. Edit If you can't get your money back you might be able to load standard PicoMite firmware on it. If so most of the pins may be usable for other things. Trial and error to see which GP numbers are devoted to the RF chip and thus not usable. . Edited 2024-10-25 13:52 by phil99 |

When I last looked they cost the same as Core Electronics, by the time you include postage. $3 for "standard letter" postage option with Core. |

Phil I did find the one on Ali and yes @ $17 each I just got 2 of them. Now my hair brained idea is to hook up the picoW with my zero board attached to the OV7670 camera and place it in a tree so my local wildlife water trough can show the wildlife on the webpage and I do think seeing a snake popup to take a drink would be great to see. Got Starlink here so the wifi will be in range for it and it will be interesting to see how long the batteries last. Regards Bryan |

G'Day Guy's, Well those PicoW's turned up this morning and put V6RC9 on it then tried the Starlink wifi but too far away for the signal. Now as I do use my phone as a modem turned it on and did the OPTION WIFI and it connected straight away Went thru and did the WEB NTP and for Adelaide +10.5 got the right time etc. So I can see the next few nights building up a webpage after it been decades since I did the last one Regards Bryan |
