Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Finally getting all the bits together to experiment with the Micromite, I was looking for a USB to Serial board but couldn't wait for a Chinese one. I've just bought one of the Freetronics USB to Serial ones from Jaycar and it has the added bonus of an on board 3.3V regulator and a Vout pin on the serial connector. You can have the serial port and power all in one! For crying out loud, all I wanted to do was flash this blasted LED. |

Not sure of this particular device (link took me elsewhere) BUT do understand the power available as when it comes to driving outputs, too many devices (i.e. LEDs) and you could experience strange behaviour. For everything Micromite visit micromite.org Direct Email: whitewizzard@micromite.o |

True, but this is a minimum fuss, get you off the ground solution. The 1117 regulator should be able to drive a few LEDs for playing around, as well as the odd LCD, One wire device, etc. The MX32 only draws 25mA standalone at full speed, I doubt you will have current problems unless you require external transistors to drive your peripheral. As far as strange behaviour, you haven't seen me in the workshop! ;-) If you are using this set up, power up in this order: Connect Micromite to Serial/USB board, connect board to USB port, then run Teraterm. You won't see the Micromite boot message as it is booting at the same time as the serial device. For crying out loud, all I wanted to do was flash this blasted LED. |
