Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Since I rarely plug my CGCOLORMAX2 into a VGA monitor, I decided to disable the video to free up the video memory. After issuing the "CONFIG Video OFF" on my CGCOLORMAX2 and cycling the power, the system locks up when I try to use Edit. If I use "CONFIG VIDEO ON" and cycle the power, Edit works fine.

I tried the same thing on two CGMMSTICK1s and Edit works fine if the video is ON or OFF. Anyone else had this problem? Is this a bug in the Color Maximite firmware (4.4B)?

Thanks,
Curtis

Ah, I guess that you could call it a bug. With the video off the editor has no way of knowing the editing window size and that is probably where it falls over.

I will have a look at it for the next release. The answer will be to either disable the editor when the video is off or give the editor a default screen size to work with (eg, 80x24).

I thought that no one ever used the video off feature so it is nice to see that someone has a use for it.

Geoff

EDIT: The issue turned out to be a bit more complicated but in the attached V4.4C Beta 2 for the Colour Maximite the editor now works correctly when the video is disabled (OFF). Please let me know if you have any problems using this version. 2014-02-12_112936_ColourMM_MMBasic_V4.4C-B2.zip Edited by Geoffg 2014-02-13

Seemed like a great idea to me... I wasn't using the VGA output and turning off the video more than triples the amount of free memory.

Thank you for the updated firmware. I don't know what other changes you made to the firmware, but I'm now able to use Edit with the video turned off as expected through the terminal connection. I'm very happy!

Thanks,
