Hello,

I am new to using the Maximite, and I would like to create my own games. How do you create the .mod files to use as sound effects for the games?

Hi Ambertom,

You could use

OpenMPT , which is a tracker/sampler program for windows etc.

Load in t0.mod to see format of tracker files...

Very short explanation follows...

Select NEW/MOD and it will create a new file with 4 channels.

Click the Samples tab, Load in your sample(8/16 bit mono)?

click on patterns tab.

Select sample 1:

Press "s" or any key, should hear a sound , the longer you press the longer the sound plays..different keys , different notes of the same sample

Press the save button, and save with name no longer than 8 characters....

Copy .mod file onto the A: drive of the maximite...

type playmod "a:(name of file).mod"

should hear your sound played..

Regards Dennis

Keep plugging away, it is fun learning
But can be expensive (if you keep blowing things up).

Thanks MM_Wombat

I'll try that and see what I can come up with.

Is there anyway to convert other sound files to .mod? I would like to play some background music during game play as well. Or is there a place with lots of .mod files that you can download?

Thanks,

Thomas,
This is from Geoff's Color Maximite article in the Oct 2012 edition of 'Silicon Chip' magazine.

"...One of the largest (mod) libraries is at: Mod music library. You can create your own music using a 'tracker'. This is a music sequencer that allows the user to arrange notes on a timeline across several channels. An example of a tracker can be found at Tracker".
