Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

For Nick?

I don't know if it has been covered before, but when you press the Space Bar in Maxman to pause the game, the word "PAUSED" appears on the screen and the programme pauses, but when you press the Space Bar again to resume play, the game resumes but the word "Paused" remains. I tried a quick "print a blank block" after the resume key was pressed but there must be more to it than that as that didn't work.

Not that it affects the game as you can "eat up" the word anyway.

I'll look into it... when I get my new Colour Maximite.

Are you using a Colour Maximite?

MaxMan was written for the original Maximite and this may be a quirk that happens on the Colour Maximite.

Fixable but not until I get my new Max.

Yep! C/Gizmo model.

Have you ordered a new Maxi or are you waiting to see if repair can be achieved?

If I get time, I'll have a closer look at the code and see if I can come up with a solution.

Got my time pretty well cut out with the f/glass works and setting the pic32 breakout board up so I can flash (or try) the 32.

I had been waiting for the 10uF low ESR caps to arrive and it turns out that I had a couple in my drawers (uncomfortable). Just need a round tuit.

Maxman quick fix.

in the pause routine where the word PAUSED is displayed, after the space bar has been pressed again for the game to resume, I inserted a line:

Print@(130,235,0)" ":pause 250

just before the FONT#6 command.

It mightn't be right, but it works.Edited by MOBI 2013-02-02

Ah yes. That's been brought about by the advent of the colour Maximite.

The text colour inversion doesn't work correctly in MMBASIC.

It worked when it was B/W because the inverse colour of white was black.

That doesn't work with colour because we're dealing with more than 2 colours.

When I get my new Maximite, I'll fix it.

New one coming.

Do you still want me to send you some, or are you OK now?
Makes no difference to me one way or the other.

I have ordered the bits, and am expecting them on Monday.
I ordered 150 of them, so I have plenty...

Yes please. The ones I have are Tantalum and by all reports, they don't always work.

pm me your email address and I'll send you my postal address. If you don't want to divulge, I can pm my postal address. There might be some things we can chat about that are not forum related.
