I need access to the 25 pins on the DuinoMite connector. I have 25 way headers and ribbon cable. Is there a gracefull way to make a break out box ? I need access to +5 GND COM and a few pins for LCD. I have lots of wires all over the shop at the moment. - Andrew - Andrew Rich VK4TEC www.tech-software.net |

Well... you could design a pcb with appropriate plug/socket at either end and break out headers in the middle. Or...use a little black "jiffy" type box with the plug/socket at either end and breaout connectors (leds etc) on say the lid and do a bit of hand wiring. Its a bit of a birds nest but look good when the lid is on and is easy(ish) to alter if need be. Or....plug the pugs/sockets onto a bread board (need adapter for pin layout) and use plenty of jumpers (yuk) Its a bit like the orange and the elephants backside - suck it and see.. David M. You could get this board Test-mite Board or this one DonDuino Rather than re-inventing the wheel VK4MU MicroController Units |

While everyone is pushing my Mikky boards, I think this one might suit you best Donduino PATCH Regards, Mick Mick's uMite Stuff can be found >>> HERE (Kindly hosted by Dontronics) <<< |

Andrew, Also Note that the Duinomite (as is the Maximite) is a 26pin header Mick Mick's uMite Stuff can be found >>> HERE (Kindly hosted by Dontronics) <<< |

I separated all the wires from my ribbon cable and reorganised them so they were in order from 1 to 26 then soldered them to the in-line header pins. I kept the earth and power wires separate and connected them to the outside rails of the breadboard. Then I pushed the header into the edge of my breadboard and marked every fifth one with a marker pen. I can easily jumper from the connector side of the breadboard to the project side, or to a separate breadboard. It might not be pretty, but it works, and by putting the wires in order I have a much better chance of jumpering the correct pin. Edit: Sorry, I just reread your question and see you were asking about making a breakout box. I didn't answer your question. Hi James, Yeah that will work too.. As you say a bit messy but it is for proto bread boarding.. You could use a Test-A-Mite and put male pins facing down where the CGMMStick1 header is (30pin strip shown with a female facing up in the photos) then these male pins can be pressed into the proto PCB and you would have effectively a CGMMStick1 pinout.
