Ok, this is just unbelievable. This kickstarter project out of the UK is up to 46,000 pounds in just 6 days for a miniature Pacman desktop case with a raspberry pi as the guts. And it appears they don't even have the Pacman game ready to ship yet. So take a color Maximite, build a nice box and run Nick's Pacman game and you have the same thing ready to run. Only tough part might be the small color VGA. Make a larger sized one with a VGA monitor and you're ahead of where they are. 46,000 pounds!!!! Nick, your Pacman game is worth more than you know apparently. www.elproducts.com |

Where is a cheap place to get 5-7" VGA monitors from David? It seems to me that I can buy a Full HD 22"/24" monitor with HDMI and LED backlight cheaper than a small bog standard VGA monitor. (I have recently seen 22/24" monitors for less than $150) Mick Mick's uMite Stuff can be found >>> HERE (Kindly hosted by Dontronics) <<< |

I think you're missing the point a little - it's not really about PacMan. It's about making a "mini MAME cabinet" that uses a Pi or other SBC as the guts. MAME = Multi-Arcade-Machine-Emulator. So it's the actual PAC MAN code or other arcade machine that you can get the ROMS for. And actually, more than making a MAME cabinet it's about doing "something with the SBC you bought to play with and now don't know what to with". So I think the large raise just means there's a lot of folks who bought Raspberry Pi's but with no specific project in mind. BTW, I made a half-sized MAME cabinet for my son for Xmas. Based around a PC and using a 24" CRT from the local University property disposition, MDF from Home Depot, interface hardware, buttons and joystick from the 'net. The thing ways a ton - "half-sized" means that you put it on a table rather than it being a complete free-standing cabinet. These days it mostly sits in the corner unused - but it was a popular present and had a shelf life of a couple of years. Hmmm, maybe I'll print up a plastic one... @mik - yeah, I'd like to find a cheap source of vga displays |
