When Geoff uploads the latest version of the User Library you will find my re-incarnation of the Hearts & Bones game (look for the Hearts folder) which was on my HP 200LX Palmtop computer circa 1991. It needs MMBasic v3.2, which will be there at the same time. Beware... it can be addictive!

It is on similar lines to Minesweeper but in H&B you only get points for collecting Hearts. You also get a bonus of 8 points if you collect all Hearts from a level provided you correctly mark all of the Bones and don't leave a mark in a cell that doesn't contain a Bone. On collecting the last Heart, you immediately go to the next level with two extra Bones. The game ends when you step on a Bone.

You use the numeric keypad to move the cursor between cells. If you don't have a numeric keypad, press F3 to define keys for Up-Left, Up, Up-Right, etc.. You can also increase or reduce the number of starting bones with F2 and <Shift+F2> respectively.

You are prompted at the start for your name so that your personal high score, direction key definitions and starting number of bones can be written to the SD card at the end of the game.

It is possible that you cannot reach all of the Bones and all of the Hearts. If so, tough cheddar!! It can and does happen occasionally.

I have not tested it with TeraTerm or composite video. If you find any errors, please let me know.

Have fun and don't blame me if you forget about doing the washing up!!
Cheers,
Hugh

I do mean 3.2, which Geoff tells me will be available shortly.

I have just made a small change to Hearts & Bones. I had forgotten to Randomize with the result that it often started with the same pattern of Bones.

You can download the updated version (v1.1) from http://members.optusnet.com.au/hnmpb/hobbies_and_interests.h tm#maximite or type in...

Randomize Timer

just before the label Start: on the second page in the MMBasic Editor.

Cheers,
Hugh
