Ok, Probably off topic in micro controllers..

I have a recordable message card, with a 0.5watt external speaker that I wish to increase the volume on.

I found a 1 watt , 1 transistor amp on the net..

http://sci-toys.com/scitoys/scitoys/computers/solderless/amp lifier.html

My question..

Will this amp blow the speaker? and I need to get a better speaker.

or if I change the 100 ohm resistor to 50 ohm then speaker will survive.
[edit] Schematic has 50 ohm, but project was built with 100 ohm [edit]
The output from the card will be a fixed volume, but just louder than the standard volume..

Keep plugging away, it is fun learning
But can be expensive (if you keep blowing things up).

Should work ok with existing speaker.
Although the LM386 AMP project would be a better design.
LM386 Based Audio Amp kits are everywhere on Net for little money.

That was the next project from the sci-toys website, and would use less power. as the device would be powered by battery's , that would be more desireable..

with the added bonus of adjusting the gain and sending the bass signal back for re-amplification.

thanks Djuqa

[edit] Jaycar has one for 9.95 KG9032 [edit]
